Chris Morett, PhD, MPP is a space planning and activation consultant. Using practical insights from a quarter century of classroom and administrative experience within institutions, his approach goes beyond design and planning to address how space is scheduled, allocated, and activated. Chris's motivating premise is that space is not a location to be managed but a tool to be deployed to promote desired feelings, behaviors, and outcomes.
Chris helps institutions understand and leverage the fact that space exists in an ecosystem that also consists of technology, courses and programming, networks, culture, and other forces. One of his core aims is to align the planning and operation of physical, virtual, and digital spaces to support organizational goals, achieve efficiencies, and contain costs.
Chris's projects have included strategic space planning and organizational development for libraries, campus and classroom master planning, and assessments to gauge how welcoming key campus spaces are and how equitably they are utilized. He also organizes the Faculty Approachability Project, which provides a toolkit, virtual interviews, workshops, and consultations to help institutions promote faculty approachability and faculty-student engagement.
