Clinical Professor of Legal Research William & Mary Law School
As increasingly libraries and higher education come under attack by those who seek to ban books and diminish academic freedom at the K-12 and university levels, what role do academic law libraries play in fostering academic freedom at our institutions as well as in supporting the work of other libraries? Do law libraries have a role to play? The discussion will talk about proposed and passed legislation in several states and will engage with librarians in the affected states to discuss the larger effect that this has on libraries and what actions law libraries have taken.
Informal "Discussion Den" chats will be held throughout the conference in addition to regular programs. Designed to be conversational rather than presentational, these 45-minute dialogues are an opportunity to brainstorm, sound off, and share challenges, experiences, and ideas in a smaller, informal setting.
